Please be advised that the California Supreme Court’s Applicant Evaluation and Nomination Committee (AENC) is seeking qualified candidates to serve as judges for the State Bar Court. The AENC is seeking applications for the position of Presiding Judge of the Court (a position that will also serve on the Review Department) and two Hearing Court Judges. Orange County Women Lawyers Association is honored to announce its nominee, Pearl Mann, an OCWLA past president and lifetime member, will receive the California Women Lawyers' Judith Soley Lawyer as Citizen Award.
The Judtih Soley Lawyer as Citizen Award is presented to a nominee who has made a significant contribution to her community, extending beyond the practice of law, to devote time and effort to the public good and values through the tradition of public service and involvement, and who exemplified the values and missions of California Women Lawyers. The award is named after Judith Soley, a longtime CWL board member who was killed by the husband of a client. She was involved in her community and in many bar organizations, including being the first female president of the Fresno County Bar Association. Of special note, Judy was a friend of Pearl's and the two served together for several years on the CWL board.
Pearl will receive the award at CWL's Annual Conference held on May 4, 2018 in San Francisco, California.
