“I’m a boy who only likes girl things and wants to be treated like a girl.” That’s how Lori Duron’s 10-year-old son describes himself. Ms. Duron is the author of “Raising My Rainbow: Adventures in Raising A Fabulous, Gender Creative Son,” the first parenting memoir to chronicle the journey of raising a gender nonconforming child. Her work as a blogger, advocate, and author has earned her awards ranging from Parents Magazine’s blogs “Most Likely to Change the World,” PFLAGs’ Flag Bearer Award, the American Library Association’s Stonewall Award, and “Top 25 SoCal moms,” among others. Ms. Duron, a former journalist will take the audience on her unique parenting journey raising a son who is a girl at heart, and provide thoughts and guidance for parents and adults interacting with children of all gender types.
All OCBA members are welcome to this free, brown-bag lunch presentation. Space is limited for this joint event. Please RSVP to events@ocbar.org.
