    The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office is seeking to hire both entry-level and experienced Deputy District Attorneys (DDAs) to join our team.     Summary: The Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee and the Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee recommend adoption of two new forms, Request for Sheriff to Serve Court Papers (form SER-001) and an attachment to that form, Special Instructions to Serve Court Papers (form SER-001A). The proposed forms comply with the statutory mandate in Assembly Bill 2791 that the Judicial Council adopt a form or forms for civil litigants to request that a sheriff’s office service their court papers.

    Seeking Applications: Attorney Merit Selection Panel Members

    The United States District Court, Central District of California, is currently accepting applications from qualified attorneys interested in serving on the Central District’s Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel.  This recruitment seeks to replace seven Panel member positions whose terms will expire at the end of this year.  The successful applicants will join the Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel effective January 1, 2024.  Panel members serve a three-year term which is renewable for one additional three-year term of service.  The Panel’s function is to: (1) evaluate and recommend to the District Judges the best qualified applicants for appointment to the position of United States Magistrate Judge; and (2) evaluate and recommend to the District Judges whether an incumbent Magistrate Judge whose term is expiring should be reappointed to a new term of office.

    Civil Jury Instructions: Revisions to Judicial Council of California Civil Jury Instructions

    Summary: The Advisory Committee on Civil Jury Instructions seeks public comment on proposed additions and revisions to the Judicial Council of California Civil Jury Instructions (CACI). Under California Rules of Court, rule 10.58, the advisory committee is responsible for regularly reviewing case law and statutes affecting jury instructions and making recommendations to the Judicial Council for updating, revising, and adding topics to the council’s civil jury instructions. On approval by the Judicial Council, all changes will be published in the 2024 edition of the official LexisNexis Matthew Bender CACI publication.
